In this session I started to learn about Tracking. Topics included starting out with the basics - band members, instruments they play and familiarzing yourself with their songs and asking them to give you examples of songs that feature the type of sound that they are striving for. Then determining what microphones, preamps etc. will be used and the proper placement in the recording room, by creation of lists and maps for the tracking session and overdub session. We then discussed all the preparatory steps such as setting up and checking mics, headphones and checking lines once the Protools sections is set up and then taking time to check that the instruments are sounding the way that is wanted. We also spoke about professional behavior and troubleshooting.
