Pro Tools/Home Recording of a Singer Posted on 2014-06-23 by Eileen Boschert

In this session I continued to learn about and reinforce what I have learned about Pro Tools.   We discussed the various functions of the edit and mix windows.  We discussed input, outputs, busses, in order to utilitze the inserts and sends and all different effects that can be applied to a wav file.   We further touched upon various effects such as the different types of equalization , dynamic, compression, reverb plug in options and the advantage of one type over the other.   I was taught what tools I can use to reduce sounds of other instruments bleeding into a certain instrument track if necessary as well as how to eliminate pops and reduce other unwanted noise.  We also went over recordings I made of a singer and her piano with a condenser micrphone; we discussed the different microphone placements I used and what could be done to improve the actual song as it was being recorded as well as the recorded track.
