2nd and 3rd Session Posted on 2013-07-10 by Chase Zabatta

2nd Session, I had done lesson 2 and 3 as suggested went over the 2nd lesson of the studio design learned a lot my mentor showed me how the studio is designed to get a better under standing and how bass traps work and what traps high and low frequencys and how the reflection concept works. the floating floor concept which i had learned about a week before in looking into how to design a studio. he showed me how standing waves work and gave examples etc.

3rd Lesson was really good that he and I went over it, i have a much better under standing of the sampling rate. 24 bit is an industry standard. and 44.1 as apposed to 192 we can use 192 but it takes up more space and how the attomic clock verses the lower end clocks on latense, and gave some really good visials as far as explaining ever thing and white it must be 2x greater in the sampling.

the next day i walked into the studio. it was just my mentor and I and his genre artist instructor Kevin. he was my "Client" so I asked him what we were doing what gear we wanted to get. He Said Neiman U87 Which is a popular condensor mic that i know all too well. run through a neve 1087. which is a rack. so i then Set up the Mic with a pop screen, he tought me to height profile to set the mic up to the person hooked up the head phones, i then patched in the mic to the tie line then patched everything in, in the control room saw gave me a quick over view of that picked that up rather quickly. then got into pro-tools turned on the neve as he showed me run it throw the compressor. learned how to adjust pretty quickly and we were then in pro-tools which i was pretty familier with so we created tracks, mono and audio and aux for effects learned how to play list watch the artist talked back on the board and pretty quickly it was going adjusting effects picking effects and so forth than we added some saxophone so we then had to say its coming in to hot. we walked back into the studio on the neiman theres a switch for -10db then we started re-adjusting the neve and the compressor to keep under 3 on the meter. all in all a very very great learning experience and an experience none the less. very hands on and just got right into it.
