Week 5 - It was a pretty uneventful week actually. I had finally finished my own project with Hymn For The Missing and was able to bring it home and put it onto my home computer and listen to it there. After having all of that finished in the studio I went home and figured that I would get back to the studio later on that week because I was trying to hear back from a friend about being recorded but nothing really came of that. Overall the week wasn't super eventful in the recording aspect sadly because I had been so busy with my job at Dunkin Donuts with 6 days and just other things happening in my life at the moment. Sadly not a whole lot got done in this week.
Week 6 - This sounds like it's going to be a very busy week so far honestly. I came into the studio this Monday and we began working on a project of a guy that's around the area and he had some Folk songs. We went through and did some acoustic guitar tracking as well as a shaker. I learned about dual miking for an acoustic guitar with the 3:1 rule with the distances between the two microphones. I had a blast and I did all of the actual work behind the glass while Boo did the recordings on the acoustic guitar. I had a lot of fun setting the levels and figuring out how to use the console better because I had been quite shy about it honestly since I hadn't set it up myself. Boo eventually got onto putting a compressor and a little bit of EQing when we switched places from what I called the "Grand Master Chair" aka the commanding chair in the studio for the head engineer. I like to have fun with stuff like this and not always be so serious in the studio, it's good to enjoy keeping things lively and spontaneous you can say. After we had finished with two different projects we were looking at and had talked about consoles and interfaces as well as getting Melodyne, it was time for me to head out. (I'm actually interested in buying a Presonus 1818VSL USB interface because it has 8 channels and that's very appealing to me as a drummer especially.)
I will be returning to the studio this Wednesday for more project work with Boo and sadly I do not have anyone around the area that wants to be recorded still because they have been busy. Still waiting to hear back about my friend Hezekiah about his bass recording and our video collaboration, which I especially look forward to here in the future. He will just need to send the files to me via Drop Box. Either way until that happens I will be trying to get my brother Joel into the studio if he wishes to have himself recorded on the acoustic guitar since he's been getting good with that. I do have that recording of Hymn For The Missing by RED all finished and will be trying to put that up online here in the future once I can figure everything out with setting it up. I don't really know yet what we'll be working on this Wednesday because it might be more Folk music from the same guy before unless I mention recording my brother at Boo's studio but we will have to see. This Thursday evening however I will be recording some drums at my friend Chris Jobe's studio and I plan on compossing something together on the keyboard and creating music similar to that of Anika Nilles, which I would totally look her up if I were you because she is really good at her work. I do look forward to this busy week and thankfully I only have a 5 day work week here at Dunkin Donuts in the mornings so it won't be as stressful as last week I'm hoping.
Cheers everyone, don't forget to message me if you ever wish to have something mixed or recorded!
