Week 7 Posted on 2015-09-10 by Nathan Cunningham

This week has been a pretty eventful week in the life of Nathan. I have been working on my latest project here in the studio over at Boo English's recording studio, Knothole Recording Studio in Waxhaw, NC like I have been every week. This week there wasn't a whole lot to actually work on because he had been caught up on with all of his current projects so I suggested we try something new that we haven't done yet. It was finally time to record some drums and I made sure to have my Meinl Byzance cymbals with me for this special occasion. There are three drumsets down in the studio so we grabbed a bright green ddrum kit and began to bring it into the studio. Boo showed me basic miking for the drums and told me what he finds is best for him when it comes to setting up. It was a really fun process and I look forward to having microphone stands and setting up my own drum microphones at home and having that all set up. We pulled an MP3 off of YouTube and then began to set levels for the drums. Found the right tempo for the track that I was going to be playing to and doubled the click. From there I went into the room behind the glass and we did a run through. Thankfully he then pulled off everything and gave me all of the raw files to bring home and work on. So far I've been working several hours on it and it has been an enjoyable but tedious process. I look forward to sharing it with everyone when I am finally finished. I should have a lot of progress on it by this weekend I am hoping. I've been searching all over for Presonus interfaces and trying to figure out what the best option will be for that as well this week and still haven't decided, have to keep in mind about money too you know.
