This week over at the studio has been a very great one. It was full of laughs and learning as usual. I've learned to enjoy being able to sit and work on audio for however long it takes and be fine with it. Not only that but it is good to be able to learn how to do what you need to do but also quickly as well and have it done right. Boo and I have had a blast working together throughout the past several weeks and looking forward to continuing throughout this program towards my certification.
However, it has been hard being able to get people here in the area to be able to record for my own projects and it has been a little frustrating even though I have about 90 people that follow my FaceBook page and yet I have no responses if anyone wishes to get recorded. I guess I will continue to wait and see if anyone wishes to be recorded. I've been wanting to get an interface for several weeks now but I have been hesitant on purchasing it because of the price and needing to have at some point 8 microphones to put into it for drumming and a big interface isn't the cheapest of things. I have considered something smaller for now but I would have to buy that other one eventually at some point in the future so I'm not exactly sure with my thoughts on the matter. Funds are not something easily accessible at the moment with everything going on at the moment. There is an egagement coming up in the next couple of months and a wedding in a year so there's a lot of things being thrown around and having to be thought of when it comes to expenses so the interface (at the moment because I do my recording work still at Boo's) is basically on the back burner while I'm researching more into the prices of different ones available.
Lately the coursework here online has been involving Pro Tools and learning the basics of the software. I've had previous knowledge of this software from last year while I was studying at Trevecca Nazarene University for Commercial Music so it's been basically old news to me but I'm glad to be able to get a copy of it through the school but I have had difficulty trying to figure out how to acquire it because all I have been given was simply an iLok and a code and not told anything of the sort how I'm supposed to get it downloaded onto my desktop. Before I can get it onto my desktop though I need to pull it off of my laptop because my desktop as I've mentioned before is strictly offline and is my working computer. The only thing I can see myself putting on there other than audio would probably be Age of Empires just for the heck of it.
Finally, I have called up the Recording Connection here today and began talking about job placement and things of that sort which I am very interested in because of my upcoming plans in the future. I'm glad to know that they help place you in a job and help you out because it's very much needed in this industry. It's all about hard work and dedication and passion when it comes to your job in audio engineering and I believe I have what it takes to really go far potentially with it and I'm excited about taking on this challenge and what will become part of my life here in the future with it. All I can say is... Bring it on, I'm ready to learn.
Cheers,
Nathan Cunningham
