Using compression along side with and EQ and gate can really help define a kick or snare. Sometimes the preset kick can have to much low end o high end frequency. Using a compressor helps reduce frequenies. WIth in the plug-in or analog presets, one is able to add warmth or round dementional value to a selected frequency.
