Alyson HillandPhiladelphia Recording Connection

Recording Extravaganza Posted on 2018-07-30 by Alyson Hilland

It always has been a dream of mine to bring musicians into the studio.  My dream has finally become reality a few weeks ago.  I know this process is just the beginning; I still have so much more to learn.  I am excited to see where this adventure takes me.  Lorena LiMato was the violinist who performed at Crystal Clear Recording Studio.  She has been playing violin since the 3rd grade; now about to graduate college with a Music Therapy degree.  Luis was the guitarist who performed at the studio.  He has been playing off and on for almost his entire life.  Thank you so much to my mentor and recording genius, Joey Heier.

Let me walk you through my first legit recording experience.  Yes!  I was nervous all day, but somehow all my nerves left my body the second I walked into the studio.  We used a cardoid condenser microphone for Lorena's Violin.  The condenser mic was used to make a more cryspt and authentic sound to record into ProTools.  For Luis' guitar, I used a 1/4' to XLR wire into a DI Box.  I want to say we were all in the studio for a good three hours going through each and every song/ instrumental track.  The songs performed includes: Scars by Papa Roach, Hey There Deliah by Plain White T's, a verse of More than Words, and a few minutes of improv playing.  What an amazing opportunity and experience that was given to me.  I hope to record many more aspiring artists in my future.

Thank you so much to both of the instrumentalists for coming into the studio!  Thank you to Joey Heier A.K.A Uncle Joey for being the best audio engineer teacher ever!!
