The final chapter. I honestly can't believe I'm already at this part of the course. It seems like yesterday I was going through orientation and now I'm writing this blog post about the mastering lesson and preparing for the final. This lesson wasn't to hard considering it didn't go to techincally in depth with mastering, but with how mastering works it seems like it is much easier to learn hands on then over YouTube. I'm excited to head to Philly at 1 today so me and Joey can rap about mastering. I'm really curious to see how he masters in his studio considering his studio is much more of a mix studio than a mastering studio, at least I think! Speaking of which, I did not realize that there are studios completely dedicated to mastering. I always figured after the mix was finished the master engineer came into the mix studio to master. I really want to check out a master studio sometime in the near future. I want to see how different it is from a mix studio, what kind of gear they use, and what the engineers are like. Maybe if you have a career based on mastering you look at music a bit differently than mix engineers. Maybe good master engineers can even hear some frequencies and subtleties in songs that I can't! Regardless, I feel very lucky to have been able to expierience this book and learn what I have learned so far. This is only the beginning!
