Chapter four contains some of the most important information a sound engineer could ask for. If you're building a studio or wiring for a concert; Chapter 4 is a must read. Not only did I learn about all the cables that I will be working with in the future through my reads, but I also learned which will become the most useful from my mentor as well. The bit of information that stuck the most was the example my mentor showed me on balanced and unbalanced wires. A few weeks back I was playing the guitar (through an amp) with my headphones in and realized I could only get sound to travel through one side of the headphones. My mentor explained to me how unbalanced output will only be recieved in one ear if using a balanced cable to recieve the sound. That example opened my eyes to the importance of knowing your cables in the studio, as well as which format to record in (mono or stereo). Overall, I found chapter 4 very informational, and crucial to anyone who is working with sound wires in general.
