Lesson #14
So I finished lesson 14 about three weeks ago. I'm a little behind on my blogs. The lesson was on breaking down a script using color coding. The different colors are meant to signify the different departments, props, make up, location, wardrobe, ect.. The lesson worked well to help me become that more in depth with my own script. It help me decide things like, whether this scene or that scene would be on a built set or on an actually location or if CGI was needed. Having to read over the script over and over again also help me to see some flaws in it, things I may need to rewrite. It was definitely a long process. I can see now why producers hire line producers to do that task. Its is very time consuming.
Angelo and I finished the interviews for Homeland. We were scheduled to shot five more on Monday, but the shot was cancelled and we are still waiting to hear back from the. For the past two weeks Angelo and I have been doing transfers. Transferring 1000s of feet of 8mm film and Super 8 film to DVD that a client had brought in that he accumulated from 1960 to the late 1970s. It is actually a really interesting process. Angelo had bought this projector set up for these types of jobs. It is a projector that projects the image onto a mirror and then bounces it back into a lens. We then focus our camera on that lens and clear up the image, then run the footage from the camera and capture in using Premiere. Initially I thought it would be boring looking at all this old home movies, but I find watching the progression of the client's family over the course of 20 years fascinating. I still have about 10 more 50ft rolls of Super 8 to capture yet. After we'll be having the client come in and sit down for about hour and go over the footage and help him figure out how he would like the DVD set up with the titles. Should be interesting.
On a final note, I still have not heard back for Alain about my rewrite yet. I'm going to try e-mailing him one more time this week. In the mean time, I have a number of my own ideas about some rewrites. That’s all for now. Home stretch.
