Microphone placement couldnt seem more important especially for me since my primary instrument is the guitar. I usually mic up my fender deville amp through my soundsytem but now that i know the proper techniques and places to put them i have so much control over the sound. My favorite mic to use is a shure sm57 in a live room. miking techniques is probably one of the most useful things to know when setting up a live show and metering and controlling the sound in a room.
