Lesson 18 and 19 Posted on 2013-08-02 by Michael Ingram

Lesson 18 had to do with microphone placement and techniques.  I fully understand what is being suggested but I do not agree completely.  As far as placement goes, that's going to depend on what kind of sound you are aiming for.  The same applies to the type of MIC you may or may not choose to use.  Yes, certain styles of MICS or preferred when recording instruments, or a live band, but the over all factor is the good rule.  As long as the engineer is aware of the problems that may occur when using certain MICS to record certain things and he or she is able to counteract them, everything should go as planned.

Lesson 19 dealt with surround mixing.  I highly recommend only doing this if you are mixing for movies.  When mixing for different music artist all you need are active studio monitors.  Lesson 19 also touched on mastering.  Keep in mind to double check all things before mass ordering.
