Today, I met Joey Heier. (Well, I met him before, so besically it was a reintroduction) I remembered he liked to be called Uncle Joey, so that's how I greeted. Uncle Joey said he remembers me, as he only gave me a brief tour of his studio and new installments he added since we last met. Nonetheless, I was still fascinated to be within his studio. Following the brief 3-4 minute tour, we sat in the main room and he asked me a few questions about myself. When did I start playing music? What gear I used? Where I live? I gave him my answers and we went into great detail about each question. I felt a sense that he really wants to know my drives and what goes on personally with me; that feeling of a 1on1 mentor.
Lastly, Joey asked "do I have any music I can show him?" I brought my Akai XR20 with me, plugged in and I performed a few of my songs for Uncle Joey. He liked all of them, enough for him to say he truly sees my talent. After that, he quickly brushed to see if I am doing my assignments, of course I am. Joey all showed me some of the gear he works with in the main room, as well as the 4 track player that has history of recording Michael Jackson from it.
After that, Uncle Joey wrapped up the orientation. We exchanged information and he told me to complete chapter 2 of the textbook so we can arrange the next meet up.
