My first lesson went very well. I really like my mentor and feel comfortable around him. We went over my test and he re asked the questions from the test to make sure I understood them. I found out that open ended responses are a lot more difficult than multiple choice. It just shows me that I have to study harder than I did (I'm glad I figured this out with my first lesson rather than my tenth one). After my lesson we discussed mixing and he gave me some very valuable information. He used the example of a bass guitar and a kick drum and how sometimes it is hard to distinguish one from the other. He told me you have to eq them different giving one more treble or more bass and vice versa so you can distinguish the two instruments from one another. Over all it was great and I cannot wait for my next lesson!
