Lesson One
In This lesson I already started to pin point what jobs appeal to me for now, I’m hoping those ideas will expand further throughout this course.
Before starting the lesson, I was extremely nervous and overwhelmed, seeing all that equipment and the Grammy awards sort of threw me in shock. Stan the mentor introduced himself and gave me a basic run down on how lessons are done, homework, sessions, simple tasks around the studio if needed.
I Learned the many jobs you can go for in the music field and was taught a lot of terminology while being shown examples of amplitude, wavelength, velocity, waveforms, four parameters. We also went over the equal loudness contour graph and the proper recommended volume for mixing and the importance of an accurate balanced mix.
In the end of the lesson we discussed more about the human ear and the inner workings. I mentioned I have a hearing issue in my right ear and he stated that it will be impossible to mix with my condition so I became a little upset and felt very out of place but first impression is just that. I kind of right at the start felt as if Stan and I wouldn’t get along in the studio I felt under privileged and really dumb with his smart fast talking.
I am extremely excited to be working with pro tools the very same program studios use to make every day sounds. That to me is incredible. And also to be working with others who share the same passion as I do. Music is my life everything about it keeps me dreaming and making those dreams reality. I am truly grateful for this opportunity.
