I've been running the last few Thursday sessions by myself! It's pretty cool! It's usually the same three kids, guitar bass and drums so I'm having fun experimenting with microphones. I'm keeping notes but really, the bulk of what I'm learning will go in my head. When I look at or think of a mic I should be able to kind of imagine how it will sound. It's a ridiculous amount of compiled information that basically goes into the subconscious and accessed in bulk. There are sixty mics to choose from at Acadia, so it's a great treat to have that wide of a range! Tomorrow I'm going in a bit early and ill be alone for a couple hours and ill test out multiple mics mics on the same two instruments. My classical guitar and my flute. I am going to make side by side comparisons of different mics thru the same preamps at different distances and positions and I will speak into the mic what, how and where so that I will have a large audio reference of how all these mics differ with a similar signal. It's a nedy experiment I've been coming up with for awhile. I'm not sure if I will really get the results I expect, but it will at least be more experience with these mics!
