Chapter 9 Posted on 2015-11-14 by William Awtry

I have finally completed Chapter 9 and right in time. I just finished building my desk a back drop so that I could mount two extra screens. Right now im only running two but its perfect to have a simultaneous view of my Mix and Edit Windows in Protools. I wasnt able to make it to the studio today on Thursday or Friday but Rory is going to meet with me today to go over some of my questions. Last time we met he showed me how to set some defaults on the track menu and how to auto select different inputs. I want to go over this again but im not sure if i have to have those seperate inputs in order to do that. I will revisit this discussion with Rory today and also talk with him about what input monitoring on HD systems is, and in what specific instances the pencil tool would be used, this is a bit confusing for me as it seems draging through a pop in a track would leave strange artifacts in the waveform but i will discuss this with Rory and report back. Im getting excited as Protools is quite the undertaking but I'm slowly starting to see things come together in my head on how the program is organized. It is quite a bit different than Reaper and Studio One which are what im used to but it seems there is much more control given with Protools and many more parameters to learn and adjust in the layout protools uses. For now that is about it I will add pictures of my desk soon. Things have been slow however, family, finance and friends always require extra time to be spent away from my studies but, the beauty of this program and a mentor like Rory is that they allow me to go at my own speed and even backtrack when I spend more time on the basics and this is extremely benificial.
