When I got to the studio Kevin was working with a client of his. This client makes R&B music. Before they got started they talked about the project and what kind of things Kevin would be helping with. The client wanted to make an R&B album and wanted to get some ideas flowing for the songs on the album. Kevin set at the keyboard and his client set across from him. They went back and forth as Kevin played melodic ideas. Once they found something they liked they saved it on Pro Tools and would come back to it when they were ready to continue the song. It was cool to see Kevin creatively working with an artist. It showed me that sometimes an Engineer would take the role as a producer.
