Kevin opened some songs he had recorded a couple years in the past. We worked the dynamics of some of these songs. First we went through and looked at compressing each individual track of the song. After we looked at compressing the entire song, or the master track.

Although Kevin’s studio is not a mastering studio, it was cool to get a brief look at mastering tracks and the difference it makes on songs. These songs Kevin had previously were much older and were done with a lot more hardware. Another cool thing I got to see was how much software and music technology has evolved over the years.
