Going Through Chapter 1 Posted on 2013-09-03 by Jordan Harding

Although the E-Textbook is an entirely new learning tool that I am now getting used to, I feel like Chapter 1 was more of a refresher course on my knowledge of sound rather than a learning experience. Honestly I enjoyed going over and re-evaluating what I know and still getting tiny bits of new information. I learned the actual anatomical names of the parts of the ear as well as more detailed lessons on how they work rather than the simple terms and knowledge I had before. I am very excited to dive deeper into the absolute depths on how and why these terms and facts effect the daily work of an engineer in the studio, or during the mixing and mastering process. I am a little intimidated by the hard numbers and measurements of sound and its components. But I am confident that with time I will be able to get the hang of converting the numbers and using them to my advantage to find the perfect placements for sounds to come out more crisp in the mixing process. Out of all the parts of the recording process, I am most eager to getting the knowledge and experience to mix sounds to come out exactly the way I want them to be and sound the way I want them to.
