These passed few weeks have been insane! First, I performed at my first music festival out at the La Jolla Indian Reservation. It was a phenominal experience. A 3 day event hosted by Revive 619 in beautiful California country. All performers were local southern Californians and I got the opportunity to meet some really talented DJs as well as meet some of the crowd and gain new fans. My set time couldn't have been more perfect. I played on Saturday night at 8pm coming on stage to a beautiful sunset dipping over the mountain. My crowd was phenominal the entire way through my hour set. At first there wasn't a whole lot of traffic being that my set marked the beginning of the night at the DJs prior to me didn't really draw anyone in. But as I dove further and further behind the decks people swarmed over. I looked at my crowd and saw what they wanted and gave it to them.... Funky house. My signature sound. I also had the opportunity to drop a handful of the new tracks I have been working on inside the studio and let me tell you, I'm on the right path. I couldn't be more sure now. Each new song I played of mine people responded with postivity and great energy. By the endd of the show I had a handful of people compliment my set as well as a few people messaging me on my Facebook page asking for a recording of my set as well as future performances. Now I must work harder on getting more consistent gigs. My resume looks exceptional now and I must starting making my business more professional. I am now currently looking into getting an electronic press kit and a webiste. In terms of things happening inside the studio, I've been working on some solid tracks. I've been tracking alot of guitar lately incorporating funk based rhythmic progressions into my style. The last time I was in the studio with Patrick we tracked my 5th series Taylor acoustic with two AKG condenser mics with small diaphragms and a Mojave tube condenser with a large diaphragm. We positioned the two AKGs in an L shape catching a stereo recording with the mojave in back. The recording came out great! I doubled the guitar to give it more depth and mixed it a little bit before we wrapped up and bounced out the tracking to my hard drive. This week Patrick is in Europe recording so I'll be working at the home studio, but in my time I'll be finishing two new tracks.

Yesterday in the studio I spent my time tracking guitar. This was a first time for me since the majority of my lessons have been spent on mixing, it was a nice break to finally learn how to track actual instruments... Read More >>
