Lesson 2 Blog- Studio Design and Monitors Posted on 2013-02-05 by Patrick Alfano

Date of Session: 1/14/13

Time in: 4:50p

Time out: 8p

Lesson: 2

Today I helped set up for a live recording in the live room for a band my mentor is recording a scratch track. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the band canceled. So instead, my mentor and I discussed the importance of studio design and how his studio was designed (After i took my quiz of course). I was shown a very wide variety of sound isolating techniques and different types of foam and materials used for the construction of a professional recording studio.

We later got into discussing the use of bass traps and monitors and how my mentor had set up   his home studio when he was younger. We discussed many other topics involving past experiences recording, musicians and what type of equipment we both admire. I had also shown my mentor a CD of my prior band and yes, he was impressed in the quality of our recordings and most of all my bands sound.
