I was out of town for a bit, but returned to attend class on Tuesday. There were four of us in studio B: my mentor, another student, myself, and a local artist called Short Boy, whom I met. He was interesting to listen to for he provided insight into the perfromance world and had ideas about marketing himself. We spent some time ( I mostly observed) on a setlist of his that he needed for a show the following day and I learned a bit about urban music, working one-on-one with the artist, the mixing program, establishing echos in-song, and how to set multiple tracks so that they do not sound muddy and jumbled (pan left and right becasue it's in stereo).
Short Boy was implementing a marketing strategy at his show where he was giving away lanyards with his name and photo on it. I also think there was a code or website on the back for a free download of one of his songs, which I thought was smart.
