I didn't realize you could automate so many parameters. I've mostly seen my mentor automate volume depnding on if the vocal is in the chours or a verse. Generally, he'll turn up the vocals in a chorus and turn them down in the verse. I'm sure he's done a lot more automation with different things that I don't realize, but it's incredible how much you can do with just automation.
