Another lesson down!
In section four we covered the conversion of analog to digital sound and how that conversion is made in computer speak (it's a whole lot of zeros and ones... let me tell you!). We also explored the challenges you can face as an engineer when making said conversion. I have experienced many of the scenarios in the real world, random noise in a mix as it runs from an analog source through a digital mixer per say, and it is exciting and informative to begin to understand the science behind it all. With this lesson, I feel I have not necessarily gained another tool for troubleshooting sound in a live setting but had a tool I already possessed sharpened by increasing my depth of understanding of the subject.
I'm not going to go into the specifics of the science we covered; it would be rather lengthy. I will say that I found the lesson eye-opening and I look forward to discussing it at length in my classroom session tomorrow.
Cheers!
