This chapter is the definition of basic knowledge and identifying the differnt componets that make up a waveform.knowing what rarefaction and compression are makes a huge difference in understanding the terms and there function.The section on the inner ear was mindblowing....at least it wasn't ear drum blowing.seriously the minute intricate workings of our ear is a miraculous gift that I am guilty of taking for granted.It was interesting to know where my max out was in db SPL. I'm about average.The audio engineers optimal mixing level is 85-95 ( db SPL ).I am looking forward to my first studio session on monday Dec. 16 2013.this has been refreshing and very interesting.beggining my musical journey.
