Lesson 7 - Tracking

Ok, so lesson 7. In this lesson we went over tracking. I had already done some tracking in the studio with Phil but this chapter helped give me a stronger foundation on what I had already learned. It also went over the correct settings and mics to use when tracking in pro tools. A lot of review, but helpful. In the studio we went over everything and got into projects that Josquin needed us to work on. I like working on projects because Phil is with me and talks me through the process and I get to do it on my own, so I learn quicker. Later on that week, we had a session where a singer and a drummer came in to record. I got to the studio a little earlier than everyone else (The other interns). After a while they all got there and the drummer did too. We helped him set up and get ready and we also set up the mics and checked the levels. After setting up, we saw how recording a drum track was done. It was the very first time I had seen a drum session, it was pretty cool. Later after everything was done we helped put everything away. While we were helping the drummer put his stuff away, I found out that I knew him and I also knew the Singer who went in to sit in the session (Her song was the one being recorded). After that session I felt pretty good. I had helped get the session up and running and I left with more connections than when I went in. In my opinion, it was a successful day.
