Before i started doing this program i thought compressing meant you smush something down to make it louder. That definitely is not the case. There is a lot to compression and choosing when and why you are using is key to having a balance mix. This is a concept that is easy to understand and easy to use wrong. also picking the compressor you use can have an effect on the sonic characters of your sound for not all compressors are the same. Luckily, i started making music before this program and had some idea about compressors. but after working with my mentor and on my own a lot more, its starting to make a lot more sense.
