In the fantastic world of automation, I further learned how to automate not just volume levels and pan, but plugins as well. An important and useful tool with automation is viewing each one. Sometimes you may edit a certain parameter of the track and forget why it sounds the way it does. By simply viewing your automations list, you can keep an eye on what has been changed. Along with this week's lesson, I was able to sit in on a recording session my mentor had. He had a group of hip hop artists come in and tracked some vocals. It was great to see a working session. Its incredible how knowledgeable my mentor is with all his equipment, including Pro Tools. Everything ran smoothly and efficiently because he has mastered his craft. When asked, I was able to give some feed back on the project and add my two cents. It will be interesting to hear his final mixes for the session.
