Today we looked at compression. Compression has always been something I've been aquainted with, but never truly understood how to incorporate into mixes. I understood the theory, but not how to work the different peremeters to get the results I wanted. The chapter and the lesson in the studio answered all my questions and gave me a good idea of how to use compression, which was very satisfying. Zack and I pulled up a loop in ProTools and started experimenting with different outboard gear to compress and gate the snare. It was great to get to use real compressors and not just plugins and lear the difference between a good and bad compressor.
