Today we were at Jingletown in Oakland. Zack and I set up shop in studio B with the SSL 9064J. Today's lesson was really devoted to learning the board. Zack mentioned this particular one is his favorite of all time. Today's lesson was great. Working on DAWs pretty much exclusively has made it difficult to imagine incoporating a console into my workflow, but after today's lesson I really got the appeal. The board itself was pretty intuitive after Zack gave me the run down on how everything worked. We started mixing a short 18 track electronic song, setting the faders and beginning to compress and gate everything. It sounds like we'll be back at Jingletown next week and I'm really looking forward to it.
