Chapter 1 Posted on 2014-03-13 by Kalen Jankoski

What an exciting Chapter!  I am learning so much about how sound travels and how our brain perceives certain sounds we hear. I learnt about simple and complex waveform characteristics. I learn't how frequency affects pitch by a waves cycle per second. I discovered how the term decibel was founded.  I am now aware of how I hear sound and what my bodies limits to sound are.  I learnt a lot about the speed of sound and what breaking the sound barrier does to the molecules in the air!  Chapter 1 also touched on phase and how to keep things in phase when you are using more then one microphone to capture a sound.  My favourite part about Chapter 1 was seeing how sound wave start, progress and then stop,  I could actually see the wave going through the ADSR process.

I have a lot more great lessons ahead.

Stay posted!
