Benjamin Cown — St. Louis Recording Connection
My name is Ben Cown and I have many passions, all of them involving music. As a kid, I went through many phases playing several instruments starting with the piano. I played the organ for my sisters wedding when I was in seccond grade. My intrests later shifted twoards guitar in late grade school. I played in several bands with my friends that we never took to seriously but we had many good times writting songs together. In early high school, while I still played guitar quite frequently, I got into electronic music pretty heavilly and began writting songs on a synthesizer and later just a DAW. I also bought an electronic drumset during this time and became a mediocre self-taught drummer. Now, I primarily focus on making Trap and Rap beats while I learn my audio engineering course. I never became an outstanding musician at any individual instrument but my ever-evolving passion for music has always stayed strong. This is why audio engineering seems to be the perfect fit for me as I like to work with many different genres and help other musicians make thier music sound the best it can.
In high school, I ran the PA system for my schools marching band and drumline. I also was in charge of triggering sound effects with a wave sampler. This gave me quite a bit of expierience with running mixer boards and live audio. Also in highschool, I worked 3 years for my towns municipal band which plays a weekly show every summer at my towns libraries ampethiater. My duties included setting up mics, speakers, runnign chords and setting up percussion equipment. Though I didnt run the mixer, I learned alot from the engineer who did.
