Lasts weeks lesson taught me about what to expect in a session and what i should do to prepare for a session. Most of the lesson just reinforced what I knew already from observing sessions while I intern. At my lesson, Tom showed me quite a few things with several compressor and noise gate plugins in protools. He also showed me which plugins he likes to use that come with protools. He threw alot of new information at me but I was able to keep up and I learned alot.

I went into the studio to intern during another session with Tom recording Jack. At the session, Jack had Tom change a few minor things here and there in a few songs. He also added a tuba part to one song and recorded some vocals. The vocals he recorded werent directly for the songs though. They were just examples of the melodies he wanted so that another vocalist would know how to sing it when another vocalist comes in to record the actual vocals. Other than the vocal, the set up used was the same. Tom used a Roland Phantom rack for all the synths, using a keybord as a midi controller, with his MPC to quantize it.
