A few weeks ago, I learned about compression and how it can be used to even out the volume of whatever you apply it to. At my lesson, my mentor showed me how to effectively use the stock compressor/limiter in protools and helped me apply it to my mixing project.

When I interned at the studio, i came in for a session with lil saint louis, a local rapper who ive met one other time in the studio. I was excited to watch his session because I have heard a few of his songs played on the radio and hes one of the bigger clients that frequently come to the studio I intern at, Phat Buddha. I noticed that his vocals sounded incredibly bright and my mentor explained that lil saint louis really likes his vocals to be bright and showed me how he had set the EQ and the other plugins he was using.
