Today's session was a mixing session. Sitting in a studio and just watching an engineer go nuts on a song is amazing. The engineer did things I didn't even think you could fix in post. From what I saw, he took say a snare and heard a hissing or a sound he didn't want in the mix, and brought up like a frequency line. He amplified the frequency and moved it along to find the noise he didn't want and dropped it below it's starting point, eliminating it. You can definitely learn a lot just from watching a professional.
