Tonight was a fairly short night for me. I had something I had to do and had to leave a little bit early. For the lesson Kris and I went over patch bays. Turns out all those little holes in those boxes actually are pretty useful. The patch bay takes signal from one point of origin to another for processing or effects. The whole studio is like a big patch bay. Kris has ¼’ and XLR inputs in all of the rooms and they all lead to the control room to the console or pro tools which is then linked to pro tools. So you can plug a mike in while in an Iso Booth and the patch bay it is plugged into is ran from the booth to the control room through the wall. So minimal chords and mess. I also opened a session in pro tools with a guitar that was miked with two mikes. I then ran a few cables in the patch bay to add some effects and processors to the guitar. Simple process it just takes time to understand where each patch goes and what the patch does when the signal gets there. Awesome lesson tonight.
