Week One in the studio Posted on 2013-07-17 by Audrey Basar

Well the first week turned out pretty well.  I learned two lessons in two hours that I was there.  Mike had to be out of town for the following two weeks but I learned a lot about setting up a room or home studio for music production.  I was taught that you should use solid wood doors to block out sounds and have thick walls.  Insulation is also very important.  Different thicknesses on the wall are necessary to absorb different frequencys and sounds in order to get that professional clear tone.  I also learned that it is very critical to have monitors that are loud and well enough to hear clearly at different frequencies.  Personally I would love to have a home studio in my next place.  I plan on getting an extra room in order to do so.  I learned also that wood studs reduce transfer of sound from one wall to another.  You can tell that a good studio design will produce clear good quality music while a poorly designed studio may sound phased and smeared.
