Antonio RodriguezToledo Recording Connection

Session 5. Posted on 2013-02-11 by Antonio Rodriguez

This session brought upon a continuation of the process it takes to record. This week was all about patch bays, signal flows, and why we use what we do in the recording process. We talked about what I read for that week then dove into another couple examples/experiments. Brett showed me his setup and what each patch bay does and why he would use this or that. It looks so complicated and like there is a lot going on, until you learn the process and what exactly is happening. Then it doesn't seem like too crazy of a setup. Brett acted as an artist and I played the role of the producer/engineer. He told me what he wanted, what sound he was looking for, and what he wanted to do with the sound once it was recorded. I wrote down his request and the setup he wanted then I was set free to set up for him. I liked this because it gave me the opportuinty to take what I learned so far and put it into effect. I like to think I did a pretty good job, except for what micrphone to use for his request. Overall, it was a learning experience and a fun one at that. I look forward to keep learning the process and watching it take effect after it is all setup. I have no doubt this is what I want to do as a career, and each session just reminds me that more and more.
