Last week on Wednesday I went into the studio to review Chapter 2: Basic Electronics with Jeff. We went over it in a short amount of time, being that it was a short chapter and I had a descent grasp on the concepts. He always makes sure that I understand the concepts before we proceed any further. He gives great explanations and illustrations to push the concepts and is always challenging me with pop-up questions
After reviewing chapter 2, he went into a preview of Chapter 3: Digital Audio, talking about sample rates and bit depth, drawing pictures to get a clearer understanding. We discussed how sample rate and bit depth settings affect the overall quality of the audio.
After that discussion, Jeff put me in the pilot seat and got me started on the computer creating my own file where I'll be storing the music I'll be working on, and then he started guiding me through Pro Tools, selecting how many tracks I need, what kind of file to save it as, what sample rate and bit depth to set, and so on. We didn't get very far, unfortunately, because I had to respond to an emergency at home, but we soon scheduled our next lesson and studio time where we'd make up for time lost. I lost quite a bit of time by leaving, but I had to go.
