Yesterday, 10/11, I returned to SongSmith Records for more studio time and to review chapter 8 material, making sure I understand everything. We talked about some ways of optimizing my current computer system I have right now to make sure that when I'm finally able to download Pro Tools 11, it will be able to run at its best level. We went over hard disk optimization and why it is important to have my network adapter driver and graphics driver up to date for the best performance of Pro Tools. He showed me the Pro Tools file structure on his Mac of the various projects he's been responsible for, and we talked about each folder and what they contained and their responsibilities.
We also talked about some of the various key commands that can be utilized to add to my efficiency as a Pro Tools user. Jeff has been getting me familiar with some of the key commands in the past weeks as we have worked with Pro Tools. I'll have to create some flash cards to help with the memorization of the many more key commands. Jeff also taked about how I would need my own personal interface if I'm to do some recording of my own at locations apart from SongSmith Records. He showed me some on Sweetwater's site.
Next week I'll be assisting with Jeff with a recording session. This will be my chance to exercise my brain and see what all I've learned so far. I'm nervous about it, but also really excited at the same time.
