I grew up in the 90s, which in my opinion was the best decade for rap music. It included the "Golden Age of Rap" in the early and late 90s which had a lot of classic albums made. You had artists like Nas, Bone Thugs n Harmony, Wu-Tang, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G, etc. that each had their own individual and influential style. This was the era when a rapper's lyrics and flow were the most important part to a song. Even if the beat was mediocre, the rapper would be make the song sound better then it should have. One of the most important things that most artists did back then was put a message into their songs and make it a classic. All of this is what's missing in today's rap music. It seems as if we went away from what made rap music so influential worldwide. Artists back then loved doing what they did and wasn't afraid to create something new and speak their mind, but now it seems as if everybody wants to become a rapper to make some "quick" money. I was fortunate and blessed to grow up during this time because I was able to experience a time when artists took time to create classic albums and watch everybody enjoy the music they made. This is part of what influenced me to want to become a producer, because I want to help find people with that same passion for music and help them create classics so people can still enjoy their songs 20 years from now.
