I've learned some good lessons from this Mix Theory week and I know I have plenty more skills to learn when it comes to this topic. A few easy tips I learned from this chapter was different organization techniques, how to properly pan and level my tracks, to leave 3-6 dB headroom for the mastering engineer, and to NOT add a limiter before sending to a mastering engineer. Unfortunately, I was only able to go into the studio once this week but when I went in I had a pretty good lesson with Lucas. We went through and mixed/mastered a track for Vane Awdis, I was able to see how Lucas goes about mixing and even picked up a few good pointers when it came to compressing vocals. Later that day DeRay came in with some splitsheets and we signed them for our two songs, it was my first time signing splitsheets so I was very excited about that. At home this week I have been attempting to organize and make as many beats as possible, so today I can choose a few and post them on my socials. On saturday I was feeling kind of down and uninspired because my moving out process is taking longer than expected so I decided to rearrange my room to make my music desk the head focus. I put the desk in the middle of the room and pulled it away from the wall, I spread my speakers wider and put them ear level. With my RRC program coming down to the last eight weeks I'm beginning to stress because I don't want to be stagnant after the program is over, I NEED a job in the music industry so I can continue moving forward. So I'll continue putting my all into this and I'll keep my eyes and ears out for any opportunities I can find. Next week is Equalization...can't wait.
