First lesson Posted on 2016-08-10 by Jasmine Smith

Last week I started my first session with my mentor Don. I was kind of nervious because I didn't know what to expect. I arrived earlier then what I needed to. As soon as I arrived to the recording studio Don took me back to the control room and allowed me to sit in on a meeting he was having with students who were trying to join the recording connection. Don wanted me to tell them a little about the program and what I've thought about it thus far. The meeting was very fun and interesting because we talked about the progam and all the benefits that comes with it. We hung out in the recording room and got a feel of eachother, and it felt comfortable to meet other people who knew about the program as well as I.

Once they left I started my first lesson and we mainly just went over the first chapter sound and hearing. He showed me a visual of everything in the studio and elaborated on everything the text book provided. I learned so much in one lesson and it was a lot to take in all at once. I left gaining more confidence in what I was doing. It made me realize how much it really takes and how much hard work you have to put in even to achieve the smallest things in this business. It inspired me to go back and take more singing lessons and pick up my guitar again.
