Dynamic Signal Processing Posted on 2014-12-14 by Debbie-Ann Lindo-Peterson

This chapter was about compressors.  I did alright on the quiz, I just got a few terms mixed up.  The main function of a compressor is to limit the dynamic range of an audio signal that is being put through it.  Dynamic range is the largest and smallest possible values of a changeable quantity. The compressor detects an audio signal and finds a way to process it.  There are two types of compressors; analog, and digital.  In Pro Tools there are compressor pluggins.  For my next assignment I'm to continue working on the song from Mix Theory, and add compression to the tracks as I see fit.  I'm excited! I can't wait to see my final product.
