Acoustics and Monitoring Posted on 2014-12-29 by Debbie-Ann Lindo-Peterson

This chapter, although very important, was not one of my favorites.  The material was very dry.  Anyways, I did manage to learn a few things.  Not only is the environment that you are making your music in important, but the environment that you listen to your music in is as equally important.  This chapter included a ton of definitions.  The part on waves, wavelengths, and amplitude came in as a refresher.  The term resonance was used repeatedly in this chapter.  The definition they gave was: in acoustics a resonant frequency is a natural frequency of vibration determined by the physical parameters of the vibrating object.  Okay, so as you might imagine, I'm lost with resonance correlating to acoustics.  I know what it means when something resonates with/within your being.  I'll be doing my research on this one, and I'll definitely be asking my mentor!
