I am hoping to persue a career in hip hop as both an artist and producer/engineer and am currently enrolled in the hip hop production program. I have been writing my own songs since i was about 11 or 12, and wrote some poems for a few years before that ,and have been making beats since i was 14. I have always had a lot of love for music since a baby and decided i would like to take t on as a carrer when i was about 13. i had started writing songs just for fun because everybody told me that i would make a good rapper because i talk kind of weird so i have a very distinct voice. I didn't start to really take my writing seriously until about a year later when i had formed a little duo with my friend and really started to enjoy it, eventually he moved and that came to an end and i established my self as a solo artist. Around the same time i had decided which direction i wanted to go with my music and how i wanted to represent and establish myself as an artist and just built my way up from there. As an emcee i'm more of a conscious rapper than anything because i always try to have a bigger message in my songs, but wouldn't neccassarily put a title on it. As far as making beats i had actually started by defualt. When i was about 14 i had built a little studio in my closet that i still use to this day; the studio started off with just some sound proof padding, a desk, a computer, reason 6, and a usb mic. At the time i was just focused on my rapping and no clue how to work the program and had a friend that was supposed to be my producer. That friend never came through so i wasn't going to sit around waiting depending on someone else and decided to take it upon myself and ended up loving it. Since then i have continued to work with music and have upgraded the studio a little bit with a new mic and a MIDI controll. My goals for music are to pass up Tupac and Big L as an emcee and be able to create a movement with my words like Bob Marley, Malcolm x, Fred Hampton, ect., but hopefully not get shot down. I would also like to be able to have my own studio and label one day along with creating a whole new genre of music. By the time im done I hope to be able to leave my own legacy and people to be able say he was the greatest that ever did it. I believe Recording Connections can help me in the direction of having my own studio and label an get me the oppurtunity to make connections to foward myself into the industry, understanding things about music a little better to enable me to get closer to making a new genre of music, and obviosuly help me with the engineering part. I also believe that the student services could help me accel in my instrumentals and possibly my writing skills.
