Skip SimpsonLos Angeles Recording Connection

Major: Advanced Audio Production

Work History: I enjoyed 30+ years of perpetual work in visual content production for companies like Disney, Mattel, Warner Home Video, HBO, A&E, ABC, Universal and Lucas Films. My job titles included production artist, illustrator, designer, art director, motion graphics designer, producer, animator, plus 2D and 3D compositor for broadcast and feature films.

About 3 years ago, a personal tragedy motivated me to turn my attention to music. Always my first love, (Beatles on Ed Sullivan!) I have played guitar by ear since then. You might say, a music fanatic, devouring anything new and loving so much of it. Most recently, trance (especially uplifting melodic female vocal, Armin, Tiesto, A & B), live acoustic recording, and soundtrack work. I am dabbling in midi orchestration with Vienna Symphonic and large instrument templates in Cubase.

I started mixing with an M-box and soon realized I LOVE MIXING!! Now it\'s a 12-core MacPro, Apollo 16 Quad, Pacifica pre, Eleven Rack, Yamaha 10s and Adams Monitors. Mics are Shure KSM32 and dual Peluso CEMC-6.

I recently completed Berklee Online\'s course, The Art of Mixing, and now studying piano in the Berklee Keyboard Method course.

It\'s so great being in the Recording Connection\'s Advanced Audio Course and am so thrilled about working with Donnie Baker at ES Audio!
