Located in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, the historic Sunshine Theater sits as a centerpiece for the Albuquerque music scene as one of the town's most popular live music venues. Originally built as Albuquerque's first movie house in the 1920s, the venue holds about 1000 people, and since becoming a music venue in the 1980s has hosted mainstream and indie acts ranging from Smashing Pumpkins to Snoop Dogg. Today, the Sunshine Theater is just one of several music hotspots in Albuquerque's active music scene.
